H&H Forestry is committed to sustainable and ethical business practices.
We condemn all illegal logging and eliminate the risk in our supply chain by only purchasing from carefully selected forests and mills.
Through our Responsible Purchasing Programme and adherence to rigorous procedures, we uphold our commitment to sustainable forestry management and ensure that all timber products we supply are sourced responsibly.
H&H Forestry has implemented a Chain of Custody programme that is fully compliant with both the Forestry Stewardship Council (FSC®) and Programme for the Endorsement of Forestry Certification (PEFC).
These programmes assess and check every part of the process, ensuring all the timber we purchase is managed from harvest, through milling to delivery and supply to our customers.
FSC® and PEFC products available on request.
H&H are audited annually by a third party auditor to ensure compliance with the chain of custody schemes.
The transition from the European Union Timber Regulations (EUTR) to the United Kingdom Timber Regulations (UKTR) on January 1, 2021, introduced changes aimed at ensuring the legality and sustainability of timber entering the UK market. Under the UKTR, importers into the UK are referred to as ‘Operators.’ This term defines their role in assessing the timber mills they purchase from and ensuring that all imported timber complies with legal requirements, preventing the illegal harvesting, trading and exporting of timber.
As ‘Operators’, H&H Forestry complies with the UKTR by conducting comprehensive due diligence audits on every supplier and maintaining detailed records evidencing their analysis the full chain of custody on timbers they supply.
H&H Forestry adhere to a responsible purchasing programme and have committed to the following principles:
H&H Forestry have committed under CITES not to source any timber species prohibited under appendix 1.
H&H Forestry recognises its responsibility to the environment, customers, suppliers and staff ensuring all commercial activities will be based upon well managed forests.
The Directors and Management of H&H Forestry will ensure that all staff associated with timber purchasing are aware of the policy and commitments and are trained accordingly.
H&H Forestry is committed to sourcing all timber from legal sources and will seek evidence of compliance as part of their ongoing due diligence process.
H&H Forestry will only accept or use credible timber certification schemes that are supported by publicly available standards drawn up in a full participatory, transparent and objective manner and are backed by independent inspection.
H&H Forestry will report annually to their appointed auditors who will assess and verify the company's progress and compliance (FSC® and PEFC).
H&H Forestry is committed to a programme of continuous improvement and to work with NGOs and government to develop its purchasing policy.
H&H Forestry will not encourage boycotts or bans on specific species of timber. Notwithstanding this, H&H Forestry will cease to purchase any timber that is in breach of our legality and endangered species commitments.
H&H Forestry will carry out a full risk assessment and chain of custody analysis prior to purchasing from a supplier. This analysis will be checked on an ongoing basis to ensure continued compliance.
